FAQ's
Is Sterling Arms International a Canadian company?
Sterling Arms International is a Canadian-owned company, with headquarters in both Canada and the UK to ensure Sterling Arms bridges international markets, combining the strengths of both locations to drive innovation and service excellence. Currently, our firearms are 100% assembled and tested at our engineering hub in Calgary, Alberta.
Where are Sterling Arms International firearms manufactured?
Our firearms are 100% assembled, meticulously inspected and rigorously tested at our Canadian facility to ensure the highest quality. Some parts are manufactured in the U.K., Turkey, Slovenia and Taiwan with other components sourced from Canadian suppliers. This blend of international craftsmanship and Canadian precision allows us to deliver exceptional products at the best possible price.
Additionally, some research and development takes place in the UK, leveraging global expertise to design innovative and reliable firearms. Our commitment to craftsmanship means we maintain strict quality control at every step, delivering products that meet the needs of Canadian and international shooters while reflecting the precision and reliability associated with Sterling Arms International.
Do you only sell firearms in Canada?
Currently, Sterling Arms International primarily serves the Canadian market. However, we are rapidly expanding to aim to supply firearms to the UK and other international destinations in the near future. Our goal is to meet the needs of sport shooters and enthusiasts worldwide while maintaining our high standards for quality and service.
How does Sterling Arms International ensure quality in its firearms?
Every firearm we produce is assembled and tested in Canada to meet rigorous quality standards. Our team takes pride in delivering reliable, high-performance firearms, and we pay close attention to every detail, from design to final testing. This ensures our products meet the needs of both Canadian and international clients.
What makes Sterling Arms International unique?
Sterling Arms International stands out for its commitment to quality, customization, and innovation. We’re agile enough to adapt to specific client needs, whether that means creating custom features or fulfilling smaller, boutique orders. By blending Canadian assembly with international partnerships, we deliver firearms that set a new standard in the industry.
Does my new Sterling Arms firearm need to be cleaned before use?
Yes. While the factory test fires and cleans your new firearm before shipping. It is always best as the new owner for you to work through the manual to disassemble, clean and reassemble the firearm. For safety, knowing your equipment is paramount.
What ammunition is recommended?
We only recommend quality manufactured ammunition that meets either SAMMI or C.I.P. specifications for the exact calibre of the SAI firearm you are going to use. Handloaded ammunition is not recommended and using it in SAI firearms is at the sole risk and responsibility of the user.
Where can I find spare parts?
There will be a designated dealer in each country or jurisdiction that will carry a full inventory of parts for the SAI rifles sold in the area. Please contact SAI for the dealer applicable to you.
What is the Warranty for my new Sterling Firearm?
All SAI firearms carry a full “bumper to bumper” 12-month transferrable warranty. We will use the date on the original dealer receipt to the owner. If the owner has no receipt, SAI reserves the right to apply the date that the firearm left the factory to the initial dealer on record. Please keep your receipt to avoid any misunderstandings.
Full warranty directions can be found on the website. Under no circumstances send back your firearm without prior written authorization from SAI.
How often are you getting shipments?
We don’t receive firearms as complete units—each firearm has a unique supply chain. While we aim for continuous shipments, our ability to complete and ship firearms follows a pattern. Additionally, the unexpected December 2024 bans impacted our production timeline. However, as we ramp up R9 MK1 production, we expect to supply our dealer network with bi-monthly shipments based on their standing orders by mid-March.
Is everything always presold? How do I get on a list?
By mid-March, we anticipate our dealers will have R9 rifles in stock. To secure a rifle, we recommend leaving your name with one of our stocking dealers.
Will your TSR/102 be coming back on the market?
If there’s a change in government that results in the repeal of the OICs, we are absolutely bringing all SAI models back to the marketplace. We’re currently using this time to update and modernize our older platforms to offer an even better product than before. The TSR will be renamed the R15, and the 102 will become the R10. The updated models will be designated as MK2.
Do you ship internationally?
We do not currently have an international sales network, but we are open to exports to approved businesses. Our products require an export permit from Global Affairs Canada. If you’re interested in seeing our rifles in your country, please reach out to us.
Can I buy another upper for my TSR/R18 etc. if they become unbanned?
We plan to offer new R15 MK3 uppers (formerly the TSR) in the future, however, we likely won’t have older R18 MK2 uppers available, as we are transitioning to the R18 MK3 platform.
What will the cost of the R9 be?
The MSRP for the R9 MK1 is $1,599 plus tax
Where can I buy parts for my Sterling firearms? Who do I contact?
We are currently working with several dealers to make parts available through online platforms. Once everything is finalized, we will announce it on our social media channels.
Is the magwell on the R18 MK2 is Milspec. I’m planning to buy the HRF RCM magwell and just wanted to make sure it would fit
Our magwells are internally STANAG standard. However, we have not tested external magwell adapters, so we cannot guarantee compatibility.
